They goat it done!
Let’s not beat around the bush: Our four-legged team members earned the title of ComEd’s “Employees of the Munch.” For several weeks, a crew of more than 200 goats ate their way through vegetation under powerlines in Pekin, Ill., to reduce the chances of electric service interruptions that trees and brush can cause.
The goats proved to have big appetites and showed their commitment to ensuring ComEd delivers safe and reliable power to customers and communities. They cut the cost and time of clearing vegetation in half, kept our crews safe and were an eco-friendly alternative. On their day off, they even made a special appearance in downtown Chicago to meet some ComEd customers!
It’s time for the goats to hang up their hard hats (for now) and celebrate a job well done.
