It’s time to put away your pumpkins and make way for the winter holiday spirit! Starting in November, communities across northern Illinois will put on free holiday events and light exhibits for all to celebrate the wonder of the season, made possible by the ComEd Powering the Holidays grant program.

In partnership with the Metropolitan Mayors Caucus (MMC), ComEd is powering the holiday spirit for 24 communities through nearly $60,000 in grants, up to $2,500 per organization, to support holiday light events that celebrate diverse cultures and traditions.

“ComEd is delighted to once again partner with the Metropolitan Mayors Caucus to spread holiday cheer with lighting events across the region this season,” said Evelyn Rodriguez Estrada, director of Corporate Community Impact. “These events celebrate the diversity and vibrancy of our communities with lighting displays meant to be celebrated by all.”

The Powering the Holidays program started in 2021 to support holiday events that foster unity and celebrate the richness and vibrancy of communities across the Chicagoland area. Since the program’s launch, ComEd has spread holiday cheer to 70 communities and organizations through a total of $172,000 in funding.

Each event and exhibit is open to the public and to help you plan your holiday outings this season, ComEd has put together a calendar and map of when and where the 24 holiday events will take place. Learn what each event has to offer below!

Powering the Holidays is part of ComEd’s ongoing commitment to supporting holiday light events across Chicagoland including popular holiday attractions at Lincoln Park Zoo, Brookfield Zoo, The Morton Arboretum and Chicago Botanic Garden.
