ComEd’s Melissa Washington talks to the Chicago Defender about how her hard-working mother gave her the love and support she needed to pursue her dreams. As ComEd’s vice president of external affairs and large customer solutions, Melissa also talks about how she’s able to support the dreams of today’s youth interested in pursuing careers in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math).
“…We are a partner in the community,” she says. “This is why we invest in kids and expose them to STEM-stimulated careers. What I try to do is get out into the community, understand who is in the community and hear firsthand what’s going on.”
