It was mind over matter on a recent Sunday morning, as thousands of people from across Chicagoland ignored their basic instincts and jumped into the freezing waters of Lake Michigan. Among them: more than 700 courageous ComEd employees, their family members and friends, including ComEd President and CEO Anne Pramaggiore and Illinois Supreme Court Justice Anne Burke.

They had come out in force to support more than 7,500 athletes with intellectual and developmental disabilities and to demonstrate their belief that every person in the community matters. The ComEd team was the leading fundraiser for this year’s Polar Plunge, raising more than $336,000 in donations for Chicago Special Olympics, which Justice Burke founded.
