Five lucky 5th-grade classes won this year’s ComEd KidVid Contest!

The contest, which ran from October through December 2017, gave amateur moviemakers in ComEd’s northern Illinois service area the opportunity to work with their teachers to write, direct and star in their own 30 to 50-second videos on one of four themes.

The public voted on the entries that were posted on the ComEd YouTube Channel. The winning teams in each of the four categories are:

  • Lights ON!: Lena-Winslow Elementary School of Freeport, Ill., taught by Ms. J. Gallagher.
  • ComEd in the Community: St. Mary Catholic School in DeKalb, Ill., taught by Ms. R. Feldmann.
  • Power Protectors: W.J. Murphy Elementary School in Round Lake Park, Ill., taught by Ms. J. Lichter.
  • It’s So Easy being Green: There was a tie between The Mae Jemison Elementary School of Hazel Crest, Ill., taught by Mr. P. Cieslak, and Southeast Elementary School in Sycamore, Ill., taught by Mr. J. Walter.

The winners will each receive a $50 gift card and a group Power Up VIP Party at their school. Each winning school will receive $2,500.
