Cristian’s Story: Celebrating Personal Growth, Promoting Energy Efficiency
August 30, 2016Energy Force Ambassador Cristian Salazar, from the Chicago-based nonprofit El Valor, explains what serving as a ComEd Energy Force ambassador has meant to him since joining the team as an original participant in 2012.
Energy Force is the country’s first energy-efficiency education program designed for and taught by people with disabilities. ComEd works with area non-profit organizations to train volunteer ambassadors, who give energy-efficiency presentations in their communities to help ComEd customers save money. Some of the tips are:
- Turn off the lights when you leave a room
- Use a power strip to power off electronics that are not in use
- Replace traditional light bulbs with energy-efficient light bulbs, and
- Adjust your refrigerator temperature to between 35 and 38 degrees so that it is not “over cooling” your food.
